Dishwashers are built for the sole purpose of saving you time. Sometimes you cook an outstanding dinner, put loads of energy into it, and just not be in the mood to wash loads of dirty dishes after. Who can blame you?

Let's be real, the dishwasher is something of a godsend that can help you when you’re low on energy. But, how much do you know about your dishwasher? Are you familiar with its decibel rating? Do you know all its features or its place setting? If not, keep reading! You’ll be surprised to learn a bit more about your "ordinary" dishwasher.

Decibel Rating

Something people don’t think about is the decibel rating a Dishwasher has before purchasing. The decibel rating lets you know just how loud the dishwasher will be. For example, a garbage truck has a decibel rating of about 80dB to 100dB, while thunder has a rating of 120dB! We can all agree whether it’s a garbage truck or thunder, they’re both loud! They're bothersome and can disrupt peaceful moments. So, do you want a dishwasher that's potentially as loud as thunder or close to it? Probably not.

Luckily, dishwashers are never that loud, though they can sometimes go as high as 60dB and over, but are much less common in the appliance market. Most dishwashers usually fall under the 45dB to 55dB range, which is equal to a whisper or standard refrigerator noise. However, you can find dishwashers that are in the 30dB to 44dB range which is well below the average. This type of dB level allows you to watch TV in peace or maybe do any other noise-sensitive tasks you need to do such as take a nap, meditate, or have a movie night!

Place Setting

A place setting is a complete set of dishes that are provided for someone’s meal. A full place setting includes all silverware such as a fork, knife, teaspoons, and a salad fork as well as a large dinner plate, a small plate, a bowl, a saucer, a coffee cup, and a drinking glass. So, if a dishwasher has a place setting of ten, you’d be able to fit a hundred and twenty dishes in the dishwasher.

With this information, it falls on you to see if you want a dishwasher with a large plate setting size or a smaller one. It really all depends on how many people you might have in your family, or just how many dishes you prefer to handle.

Features

Depending on the dishwasher, there can be so many different features for you to use and play around with. Some dishwashers can have very specific and different amounts of cleaning jets inside that are made for specific dishes for a better wash. Others are now smart dishwashers for easy use and convenient control, while others have adjustable racks and specialized wash cycles as well!

With smart washers being purchased more and more, you can also set up a replenishment system where they automatically ship out new dishwasher detergent pods when you’re running low. This is just one of many ways smart dishwashers are ahead of the game when compared to the standard dishwasher.

Lastly, you can always save money with Energy Star Certified appliances! These dishwasher appliances will ensure low energy use and are extremely environmentally friendly and energy-efficient.
